My Hot Matcha Latte

My Hot Matcha Latte

IMG_8952.jpg

I hopped on the matcha latte train and while back and I don't think I will be getting off any time soon! I could go on an on about the health benefits about matcha:

  • Filled with antioxidants
  • Boosts your metabolism (who doesn't want this?!)
  • Detoxes your body
  • High in fiber and vitamins
  • Can lower cholesterol and blood sugar
  • Aids is relaxing and even can enhance your mood and concentration

Aside from it's benefits, I just love the taste. And as someone who doesn't drink coffee - yes I just said that, never have and don't plan to start - it's nice to have an alternative to water in the morning!

So I know there are a ton of recipes out there but I wanted to share mine with you - it's super quick and easy!

EASY MATCHA LATTE RECIPE

  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 3/4 cup almond milk
  • 1 tsp matcha green tea powder*
  • honey for taste
  • electronic frother or a bamboo whisk

*I normally order my matcha off amazon and just read the reviews. I do know the greener the powder the better the quality. PS good matcha ain't cheap, I normally buy "middle grade" 1 oz for about $10 and it lasts me for a while!*

DIRECTIONS

  • On stovetop boil 1/4 cup water
  • Add 1 tsp of matcha to a mug and add the boiling water
  • On stovetop boil 3/4 cup almond milk
  • Add that into the mug
  • Add desired amount of honey (or any sweetener)
  • Use electric frother until bubbles are created and you feel all the matcha is ground up
  • **If you use a whisk I suggest you whisk when it is just the water and matcha to break apart the matcha before pouring in the milk**

Sometimes I double the recipe or play around with more liquid but 1 tsp of matcha is pretty much all you need! I will be posting my iced matcha recipe soon as well! They are both super easy and delicious - I swear this drink makes me more alert in the morning - enjoy!
